Dr. Davis Appointed Chief Medical Officer

Scotland County Hospital Board of Directors recently appointed Jeff Davis, DO, to the position of Chief Medical Officer (CMO).  Dr. Randy Tobler has been in that position since July 2011 and was recently appointed, by the board, as the CEO.

The CMO provides medical perspective, knowledge, experience, and leadership to the hospital.   In his new role, Dr. Davis will facilitate communication and understanding among the various clinical components of the hospital, to assure the provision of high quality care to the patients in the community.  Additionally, the CMO serves as a principle interface between the hospital’s CEO & Board of Directors and the clinical staff of the hospital including physicians, medical staff, nursing, diagnostic & therapy departments.  The role also includes significant input into the short range and long range strategic planning and operations of the hospital with respect to advancing the quality of care to the patients the hospital serves.  The CMO serves as the lead member of the Senior Management Team as well.

The board's primary focus is for the CMO to be the administrative leader of the Quality Assurance and Safety program at the hospital.  This will involve close work with Tammy Scearce, RN, as Quality Assurance Coordinator and Valerie Bair, RN, as Director of Nurses.  "We are extremely pleased that Dr. Davis has agreed to assume the role of CMO,” said Curtis Ebeling, Chairman of the Board.  “With his proven ability to encourage teamwork and cooperation among medical & clinical staff, he is one of the most respected and admired physicians in the organization.  He has been instrumental in many of our strategic initiatives, and his leadership and direction are invaluable to the hospital and our community.”

Along with his new role at the hospital, Dr. Davis will continue to see patients in his practice at Memphis Medical Services.
