Gift Shop Now Carries Cancer Girl Greeting Cards

New "Cancer Girl" Greeting Cards

Sold at Hospital Gift Shop

Cancer Girl cards are now available at Scotland County Hospital/Scotland County Care Center Gift Shop, located at the South Main Entrance of Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, MO.

The cards are created by a Minnesota native, Kathy Honey-Murphy, a woman diagnosed with stage 3A breast cancer in August 2011 at the age of 49, and are designed to bring cancer patients comfort and a laugh.  Honey-Murphy went through eight rounds of chemotherapy, 28 radiation sessions and a double mastectomy with reconstruction.

“When you receive a diagnosis of cancer, you learn one thing right away, people do not know what to say and it is always the elephant in the room,” Honey-Murphy wrote in the product information sent to Gift Shop Manager/Buyer, Alisa Kigar.  Honey-Murphy said, “I decided that I was going to have a good attitude (most days) and would try to find the humor in what I was going through.  I posted humorous observations on my Facebook page and realized quickly that if I found humor in my situation, it put others at ease."

The Cancer Girl greeting cards include cartoon illustrations based on her personal experiences and are appropriate for both men & women.  Many of these unique & funny greeting cards are from Honey-Murphy's cancer journey.  Her goal, for the line of greeting cards, is to bring a distraction, a smile and a laugh to cancer patients (and caregivers), even if for only a moment.  For more information about Cancer Girl, visit or at
