National Physical Therapy Month

The Therapy Services Department at Scotland County Hospital has been celebrating National Physical Therapy Month in October.  National Physical Therapy Month is celebrated to recognize how physical therapists and physical therapist assistants help transform society by restoring and improving motion in people's lives.  The focus is on healthy aging and the many ways that physical therapists, as movement experts, can help individuals overcome pain, gain and maintain movement, and preserve their independence.

Physical Therapists in the Therapy Department at Scotland County Hospital are: Meagan Weber, DPT, Supervisor; Carrie Hamner, PT: Kerri Shirkey, PTA; Kendra Schlatter, PTA; and Jennifer McMinn, PTA.  Jennifer McMinn is also an Occupational Therapist in the department along with Katie Tuck, OT.

The Therapy Services Department has had a drawing sign-up all month for a patient and a staff person to win a new pair of ASICS tennis shoes.  Tara Neves, RN, from Memphis Medical Services and Shirley Elliott, a current physical therapy patient, were the winners, each receiving new tennis shoes.
